Composite Decks/Trex

Benefits - Trex does not splinter, split or crack, resistant to rot, decay and insects. Trex has multiple uses, it can be used near or on water, for benches, planters, edging, decking, rails and much more.

Maintenance - Annual cleaning to remove debris and mold (if necessary) with a deck wash that contains sodium hypochlorite and detergent. Apply to deck, rinse off with garden hose or light pressure wash. Time to maintain is about 1/2 - 1 hour.

Vinyl

Benefits - Eliminate common deck problems such as warping or cracking, slip resistant, has anti-fungal and U.V. inhibitors. Second level decks provide dry area below for patio or storage area.

Maintenance - Light pressure wash or garden hose with non-abrasive detergent Time to maintain is about 1/2 hour.

Wood

Benefits - You have many types to choose from, sunwood, cedar and hardwoods (Ironwood). Provides a firm base for paints and stains, naturally resistant to decay and insect damage.

Maintenance - Annual or semi-annual (depending on area) cleaning. You will need to strip any existing paints or stains, sand if necessary, or pressure wash, then re-seal with paint or stain. Time to maintain is anywhere from 1-4 days depending on deck size.
